2014 iHeartRadio Music Festival - Night 1 - Show
Guys, we’re officially out of the woods as far as Taylor Swift’s feminism is concerned. Not only does the talented songstress now speak up when other women are dismissed for their feminist viewpoints, but the singer is also flat-out calling BS on the sexist reasons why people question her work.

In a recent interview, Swift sat down to discuss her writing process. It started out well; in fact, the host compliments Swift on her writing, calling the singer-songwriter’s lyrics so “on point.” The host then asks Swift what her response is to people who call her out on the inspiration behind her record-selling material (aka the people who insist she only writes about her ex-boyfriends, as if that’s something to criticize or for her to be ashamed of).

Swift, no surprise here, has an excellent, poised response:

“The most important thing for me is maintaining artistic integrity, which means as a songwriter I still continue to write about my life.”

That’s right; this is nothing new for Taylor Swift, and her earliest fans can confirm this. Swift said that, because her life is more public now, it just means more people are now looking in and trying to figure out who or what is the inspiration behind her hits.

And for those people throwing shade at Swift for writing about her exes, the singer further calls BS, saying:

“Frankly, I think that’s a very sexist angle to take. No one says that about Ed Sheeran. No one says that about Bruno Mars. They’re all writing songs about their exes, their current girlfriends, their love life and no one raises a red flag there.”

We’re with you, Swift. Keep living and keep writing. We’ll keep buying your albums.
